Empowering Girls and Combating FGM

On October 11, 2024, Community in Action Against Poverty (CAAP) proudly participated in the International Day of the Girls celebration held in Jigjiga, Somali Region, Ethiopia. This event, themed “Girls Vision for the Future,” brought together CAAP, UNICEF, RDV, MCDO, BoWCA, local authorities, and other key partners to highlight the critical role girls play in shaping their future and their communities.
This year’s celebration not only emphasized the importance of empowering girls but also the prevention of harmful practices like female genital mutilation (FGM), which is particularly relevant in the Somali Region.
Through CAAP’s ongoing programs, such as FGM prevention funded by International Solidarity Foundation and Women Economic Empowerment project funded by UN Women Ethiopia , CAAP continues to support the vision of a brighter, more inclusive future for all girls and Women in the Somali region.
