Achievements

The program focuses on strengthening technical and operational proficiency in key areas such as disaster preparedness, climate adaptation, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) systems, and resource mobilization through:

  • Organizational Capacity Assessments (OCA)
  • Customized capacity development plans
  • Training, workshops, and mentoring sessions

KEY Achievements

  1. Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA):
    • Conducted an OCA to identify strengths and gaps across technical, operational, and programmatic areas of CAAP.
    • Assessment Findings:
      • Strengths: Notable strengths were identified in Finance Policy and Procedures (75.5%), Human Resources Management (74.0%), and Procurement, Warehouse, Assets, and Logistics (73.0%), positioning CAAP well to manage resources efficiently.
      • Areas for Improvement: Relatively lower scores in Climate (41.7%) and Resource Mobilization (43.8%) underscored the need for enhanced capacity to address climate-related challenges and diversify funding sources. Additionally, gaps in Disaster Management (53.3%) and MEAL (51.2%) highlight opportunities for strengthening technical capacity and improving program monitoring and evaluation processes.
  2. Customized Capacity Development Plans:
    • Developed and implemented plans tailored to address specific needs and priorities identified through the OCA.
  3. Training and Capacity Building:
    • Delivered a combination of remote and in-person training, workshops, symposiums, and mentoring programs to enhance technical and operational capacities.
    • Strengthened CAAP’s expertise in critical areas including Disaster Preparedness and Response, Disaster Management, Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, Resource Mobilization, MEAL Systems, and Program Management.
Impact

The project significantly enhanced CAAP’s operational effectiveness to better address climate-induced emergencies and improve resilience in affected communities. By building organizational capacity in key areas, the project ensures CAAP is better prepared to manage future challenges related to climate change and humanitarian response, ultimately improving resilience and reducing vulnerabilities within the Somali Region.
