Women’s Economic Empowerment

Targets over 1,004 women and Girls with skills training, financial inclusion initiatives, Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCOs) and Climate Smart Agriculture. Budget: ETB 47,627,685.

Engaged over 12,000 individuals in FGM/C and early marriage prevention projects. Budget: €120,000 annually (BRAVE) and ETB 420,770 (GIZ FGM Project).

Supported 350,922 beneficiaries with General Food Assistance, Climate Smart Agriculture, Integrated Landscape Management and Multi-Purpose Cash transfers. Budget: Over $3m for GFA, ETB 1.7 million for MPC and AUD 20,000 for ILM.

Provided emergency shelter and NFIs to 12,642 households (80,176individuals, 41,652.00              38,524.00) across seven projects in in Adadle, Kelafo, El Ogaden, Barey, God God, Abakarow, Jarati, and Erer woredas. Combined Budget: Over USD 600,000.

Promoted immunization and improved nutrition for 370,000 individuals, including children and mothers. Budget: ETB 17.6m (ACHIEVE), ETB 2.6m (HPV MAC), ETB 21m (TPM)

CAAP has not implemented standalone WASH projects but integrates WASH into broader programs. CAAP’s emergency WASH interventions improved access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene for over 12,000 individuals including water pipeline extensions (1.8 km), rehabilitating 2 water sources, and monitoring water quality to ensure safe drinking water for 9,360 people. Thirteen blocks of gender-segregated latrines (52 stances) served 2,600 individuals, supported by latrine cleaning kits. Hygiene promotion campaigns and training for 20 promoters reached 12,000 people, improving practices like safe water storage, hand washing, latrine usage, and cholera prevention. Essential hygiene items and dignity kits were distributed to 3,500 households, while 28 WASHCO members were trained in water scheme management, ensuring sustainable and resilient community health solutions.

CAAP has not implemented standalone education projects but integrates educational initiatives into broader programs to enhance learning and community development. Educational resources benefited 200 children in El Ogaden, while 30 mini-media clubs supported 1,500 students and 90 teachers across three woredas. Five Yegna School Clubs in Jigjiga engaged 150 students and 17 teachers, promoting HPV awareness and anti-FGM messages. These efforts improved education, health mobilization, and community empowerment, impacting over 2,000 individuals across the Somali Region.

Through principles, CAAP is the CCCM designated Agency in Erer Woreda, supporting the effective coordination, management, and governance of IDP camp settings, ensuring equitable access to services and protection for displaced populations, and involving women and girls in decision-making. Promotes durable solutions, linking shelter support with sustainable livelihoods, General Food Assistance, WASH improvements, health services, and climate-resilient approaches in line with national and regional plans
