Achievements
  1. Emergency Shelter Kits and NFIs:
    • Delivered emergency shelter kits to 3,055 households, providing essential shelter materials such as plastic sheets and ropes for constructing shelters.
  2. Cash Assistance:
    • Provided ETB 16,497,000 in cash to 3,055 households, with each receiving 5,400 Birr to purchase household items based on their specific needs.
  3. Community Engagement and Capacity Building:
    • conducted introductory meetings with local authorities and communities to ensure transparent beneficiary identification and registration.
    • Carried out cash feasibility and market assessments to ensure the viability and effectiveness of cash assistance.
    • Provided cash for NFIs awareness and voucher distribution to selected vulnerable households.
    • Held a project closeout workshop to review outcomes, identify lessons learned, and ensure continued engagement with stakeholders.
    • Conducted PDM surveys to assess the effectiveness of distributions and beneficiary feedback.
Impact

The project not only addressed immediate shelter and household needs but also laid the foundation for long-term resilience. By providing cash-based assistance alongside in-kind shelter kits, the project enabled households to address their unique needs with dignity, promoting sustainable recovery. Capacity-building efforts, including training local leaders and conducting market assessments, ensured the sustainability and effectiveness of the interventions. Consequently, the project enhanced the resilience of drought-affected populations, fostering a solid foundation for continued recovery and long-term development in Barey and God God, Afder Zone.
